Originally the island was named San Juan and the port - Ciudad de Puerto Rico. San Juan is the second-oldest capital (after Santo Domingo Dominicana) that the Europeans/Spaniards established in the Caribbean. San Juan is Puerto Rico's principal/main port (locode PRSJU), as well as the largest city (population around 350,000) and the country's capital.
